Paint corrected properly. Then protected for years.

Paint correction, ceramic coating and maintenance detailing from a dedicated studio in Paignton. A coating only ever locks in the paint beneath it — so we correct first.

One of two or three in the South West.

Anyone can call themselves a detailer. The word is not protected, and standards vary widely. Pro-Valets accreditation is different: it requires a proven track record, the right insurance and work inspected against a set standard. Across the South West, only two or three detailers hold it. We are one of them.

Harry and Chris have run the business since late 2014 from Yelberton Trading Estate in Paignton, with mobile cover across Torbay, Devon and the wider South West.

A Lamborghini Aventador SV and a 2009 Civic have both been detailed here. We cover everything from a Fiat to Ferrari, lorry to Lamborghini. The badge changes the quote, not the process — every owner gets the same honest assessment of their paint.

Or judge it on the work — recent cars and what their owners said.

How the work is ordered

Correct. Protect. Maintain.

Machine polisher pad meeting a dark car panel, compound haze on the paint
Stage One

Correction

Swirl marks are thousands of fine scratches catching light at once. We take paint depth readings, test a panel, then machine polish each panel until the defects are gone rather than filled. On a large vehicle in poor condition this alone can take thirty or forty hours.

How correction works
Stage Two

Protection

Only once the paint is right does anything go on top of it. Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light bonds at a molecular level and holds for two years. Layered with EXO V4 it reaches five, adding the water behaviour that makes a car easy to keep clean.

Stage Three

Maintenance

Most damage we correct was caused by washing. A maintenance detail running 90–150 minutes uses two buckets, grit guards and pH-neutral shampoo to keep a coated car clean without putting the swirls back. Mobile across Torbay and the South West.

Washing without undoing it

A coating locks in whatever is underneath it.

So we correct first.

The rule the studio works to
Five packages

Where your car is now decides which one.

New off the forecourt, five years into daily use, or already coated and due a wash that will not undo it — the honest answer is different in each case. Tell us which one you are and we will tell you what the car actually needs.

The difference is in the reflection.

Wash marks and swirls machined out of the clear coat, not filled in and hidden by a glaze.

The Process

Five stages, in order.

Inspect, wash, correct, coat, check. Nothing is skipped to save time, and the car is photographed before and after so you can see what changed — the full process, stage by stage.

Stage 01

Inspection & Paint Readings

Before anything is cleaned, the paint is assessed under inspection lighting and depth readings are taken. Clear coat is finite — knowing how much there is to work with determines what can safely be corrected and what cannot. This is also where we tell you if a full correction is not worth the money.

Stage 02

Safe Wash & Decontamination

A citrus pre-wash lifts organic matter, then snow foam loosens what is left before anything touches the paint. Wheels, arches and shuts are cleaned separately. Tar and iron removers dissolve bonded contamination, and a clay bar takes the surface back to smooth.

Stage 03

Machine Polishing

A test panel first, to find the least aggressive combination of pad and compound that will actually remove the defect. Then panel by panel: compounding to cut the damage out, refining to bring the gloss back. On a large vehicle in poor condition this stage alone can run to thirty or forty hours.

Stage 04

Ceramic Coating

Panels are wiped down to strip polishing oils, so the coating bonds to bare paint rather than to residue that will wash away. Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light goes on first and holds for two years. EXO V4 can be layered over it, taking protection to five and adding the water behaviour that keeps the car clean between washes.

Stage 05

Final Inspection & Handover

The car goes back under inspection lighting and is checked panel by panel against the readings taken on day one. Then we walk you through what was done, what the coating will and will not resist, and how to wash it without undoing the work.

Selected Work

An Aventador SV. A 2009 Civic.

Both left the unit corrected to the same standard. The badge on the bonnet changes the quote, not the process — the same inspection, the same test panel, the same refusal to coat over defects rather than remove them.

Every one of them, five stars.

“Fantastic service from Platinum. I had a full deep clean inside and out, paint restoration, and ceramic coating. They always reply quickly and professionally, and even went the extra mile by booking me in last minute on a Saturday right before a car show. The car was ready within a few hours and looked unreal. Their knowledge is outstanding. Highly recommended and I'll definitely be back.Thank you.”

The four questions we get most.

Straight answers, including the ones that talk you out of spending more than you need to.

Paint correction is machine polishing that removes defects from the clear coat — swirl marks from poor washing, light scratches, water spotting and holograms — rather than filling them in. Whether your car needs it depends on what the paint reads under inspection lighting, which is why every job starts with that inspection rather than a quote over the phone. Most cars that have been through a hand car wash need at least a single stage.

It depends which coating, and on how the car is washed afterwards. Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light is rated at 2 years, and EXO V4 layered over the top of it extends that to up to 5 years layered over Crystal Serum Light. G1 Clear Vision on the glass lasts 12 months. A coating washed with a sponge and a bucket of grit will not reach those figures, which is why the maintenance wash matters as much as the coating.

Both, depending on the work. Correction and coating are done at our unit on Yelberton Trading Estate in Paignton, because a multi-stage polish needs controlled lighting and an uninterrupted day — it cannot be done properly on a driveway. Maintenance details and deep cleans can come to you across Torbay, Devon and throughout the UK.

Call 01803 362002 and describe the car, its condition and what you want from it. Harry will tell you which of the five packages fits, what it will cost and how long it needs — or tell you honestly that a cheaper option would serve you better. Deep cleans run from £100 and the Platinum Executive Detail is from £160; correction work is quoted after inspection because paint depth varies car to car.
